Ever since she can remember, Mila lived on the streets. She had her own little neighborhood there, and every day she would happily wait for us when we brought her breakfast and dinner. But in the winter of 2026, dog catchers tried to capture her and take her to a notorious shelter where dogs are killed. We rescued her just in time and brought her to our shelter.
It was very hard for Mila to adjust. During her first days at the shelter, she refused to eat. Frightened, she watched this strange new world around her, pressed herself against us for comfort, and tried to understand where she had ended up. With time, she adapted and now gets along well with the other dogs — sometimes she even plays with them. Still, the noise, the crowd of dogs, and the constant barking are not the kind of life in which Mila feels happy or safe.
What Mila truly loves is human closeness, peace, and the feeling of belonging to someone. We are looking for patient and kind people who understand that some dogs need a little more time to adjust to change – but once they do, they love with all their heart.
Mila has a mild balance disorder, most likely the result of being hit by a car in the past. Even so, it does not stop her in the slightest from running, playing, and enjoying life like any other dog.
