Some dogs put in real effort to be noticed. Garry works hard to avoid it.
This elegant, long-legged guy was born in June 2024 and grew up in the shelter. He never picked up the skill some dogs have perfected: showing up in front of a human at just the right moment, resting his head on their arm, pulling out the saddest look in the world, and getting declared “the one we have to take” within thirty seconds. Garry doesn’t do that kind of marketing.
He’s always around somewhere, watching what’s going on, waiting for the crowd to thin out a little. He doesn’t make a scene when you approach him — he sizes you up instead, cautious, weighing things. He’ll introduce himself nicely, but only if you’ve got time for him.
And that’s how he stayed unnoticed — an extra in his own film. Paying attention only to the loudest ones is a pretty unfair selection system.
Because Garry isn’t less interesting than the dogs who approach first — he’s just quieter. He’s not less sweet, he just doesn’t show it right away. And he’s not a difficult dog — he’s just not one who’ll win you over in the first five seconds. Give him your attention, though, and out comes his sweet, cheerful side.
