About Merlin

One April day in 2024, a dog named Merlin left the shelter for his new home. That same morning, a starving little puppy, covered in fleas and marked with the very same patterns, “wandered” up to the shelter gate. Of course, we accepted the challenge — the name Merlin had to live on.

So one Merlin left, and another arrived, with the hope that he too would one day find his own family.

Only the next day did we realize he wasn’t alone. Nearby, we found nine more puppies someone had very thoughtfully left there. Merlin had separated from them — probably because they picked on him and treated him like the extra one.

And that’s still the case today. Even though he has grown into the biggest of them all, Merlin still steps back when his brothers and sisters push forward. He watches with quiet surprise as they argue with the dogs on the other side of the fence, or bark at the neighbors he approaches simply hoping to share a few kisses. And when the commotion settles, and he feels sure his presence won’t bother anyone, Merlin gently rolls onto his back and tells me: I’m here — give me some cuddles.

If you give him the chance, Merlin will follow you from room to room. Not because he has to, but because he simply wants to be close🐾
